APTIA NAMES JOHN CAREW UK COO AMID GROWTH IN PENSIONS ADMINISTRATION

Aptia has appointed John Carew as UK Chief Operating Officer, reinforcing its operational leadership at a time of sustained growth and increasing complexity across the pensions administration market.
The appointment comes as pension schemes face mounting regulatory scrutiny, rising member expectations and pressure to modernise legacy systems, placing operational performance at the centre of service delivery for administrators and trustees alike.
Carew joins Aptia following more than two decades at Capita, where he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Capita Pensions Solutions. During his tenure, he led large-scale operational teams in complex, highly regulated environments, overseeing service delivery for some of the UK’s largest pension schemes. Earlier in his career, he held the role of Chief Operating Officer for Capita’s Local Public Sector business and occupied senior global operations positions across multiple industries.
In his new role, Carew will be responsible for operational delivery across Aptia’s UK pensions administration business. His remit includes ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, maintaining service quality and supporting strong outcomes for clients, members and policyholders.
He will also work closely with Aptia’s leadership team and the wider UK organisation to ensure that strategic priorities are translated into operational execution as the business continues to expand.
Malcolm Reynolds, UK President at Aptia, said: “John’s extensive experience in leading complex operations and driving efficiency will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our UK business. His proven ability to deliver operational excellence will complement our strategic vision and ensure outstanding outcomes for our clients and members.”
Carew described his move as an opportunity to join the business at a pivotal moment in its development.
“I am delighted to be joining Aptia at this transformative stage in their growth. This is an ambitious company with a clear commitment to delivering excellence for its clients and members, and I’m excited to collaborate with the team to deliver on their growth plans for the future,” he said.
The appointment underscores Aptia’s focus on operational resilience as pension providers navigate evolving regulatory demands, digital transformation programmes and rising expectations from scheme members across the UK.
