LUMON CORPORATE BETS ON CONSULTIVE-LED FX MODEL WITH ELIOT BASSETT APPOINTMENT

As prolonged currency volatility reshapes how companies manage international exposure, foreign exchange providers are under growing pressure to move beyond execution and offer strategic support. Against this backdrop, Lumon Corporate has appointed Eliot Bassett as Managing Director of its Corporate Division, signalling a shift towards a more consultive-led model in a traditionally transactional sector.

The appointment comes at a time when businesses are grappling with heightened foreign exchange risk, driven by persistent inflation, elevated interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty. For finance teams managing cross-border operations, currency swings have become a material threat to margins, cash flow predictability and long-term planning.

Bassett brings significant experience in FX risk management, having founded Abacus FX and played a key role in supporting the expansion of Alpha Group. His career has focused on developing hedging strategies for organisations ranging from fast-growing SMEs to FTSE 100 companies, helping them navigate volatile markets while protecting operational budgets.

Rather than positioning foreign exchange as a standalone service, Lumon Corporate is seeking to embed itself more deeply within client finance functions. Under Bassett’s leadership, the firm is expanding its product and consultive offering to include tailored hedging frameworks, detailed scenario analysis and structured approaches to budget certainty for companies with significant currency exposure.

This approach reflects a broader shift in the market, as businesses increasingly expect FX providers to act as strategic partners rather than execution desks. By locking in exchange rates and modelling downside risk through bespoke “what-if” scenarios, firms can insulate operating margins from short-term market shocks while maintaining flexibility for future growth.

“We want to be the most trusted FX services company for the business community. Our focus for clients has always been ‘how do we solve risk for your business’, and we’re taking this to a new level by truly embedding ourselves in these businesses, and tailoring strategies to the degree where we’re supporting them as if they were our own,” Bassett said.

He joined Lumon Corporate in March 2025 as FX Strategy Director, a period during which the company has expanded rapidly. Since then, the firm’s internal team has doubled in size and Lumon Corporate has received multiple industry awards recognising its service to corporate clients.

As volatility shows little sign of easing, the company believes its emphasis on long-term risk management, rather than short-term currency trades, will resonate with finance leaders seeking stability in an increasingly unpredictable global environment.
