HEARING DOGS CHARITY WELCOMES TECHNOLOGY TRANSFORMATION LEADER TO ITS BOARD

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION CTO CHRIS BROCKLESBY JOINS HEARING DOGS FOR DEAF PEOPLE AS TRUSTEE

National charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has strengthened its Board of Trustees with the appointment of Chris Brocklesby, Chief Technology Officer at the British Heart Foundation and a seasoned leader in digital transformation.

Based in Muswell Hill, Brocklesby brings decades of experience in technology strategy and innovation, having held senior leadership roles at Tesco, Dunelm, EasyJet, and Vodafone. His career has centred on leading large-scale business transformation programmes, developing digital-first customer experiences, and building high-performing teams within complex, multi-sector environments.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which trains life-changing assistance dogs and provides support for people who are deaf or have hearing loss, is embarking on a new strategic phase focused on expanding its services and amplifying public understanding of hearing loss. The charity’s refreshed approach aims to deepen connection, confidence and community among people with hearing loss through peer-led, co-designed services — while continuing to grow its renowned assistance dog partnerships.

Tracy Griffin, Chief Executive of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said the appointment of Brocklesby comes at a pivotal moment for the organisation.
“We are delighted to welcome Chris to our Board of Trustees. His wealth of experience in technology transformation, digital innovation and organisational leadership will bring tremendous value to our charity,” Griffin said.

“Chris’ expertise in leading complex change and building high-performing teams will help us strengthen how we work and harness technology to support even more people who are deaf or have hearing loss. We’re thrilled to have him join us as we continue to grow our impact and reach.”

She added that the charity’s future strategy relies on technology playing a vital role in enhancing accessibility, improving service delivery and connecting communities across the UK.

Brocklesby’s appointment reinforces the growing trend of charities recruiting senior business leaders with digital expertise to drive innovation and modern governance in the non-profit sector. His cross-industry experience — spanning retail, aviation, telecoms and financial services — is expected to help Hearing Dogs for Deaf People optimise its digital infrastructure and outreach.

With more than 12 million people in the UK affected by hearing loss, the charity’s mission is gaining renewed urgency. By bringing in a leader experienced in large-scale transformation, Hearing Dogs aims to scale its operations, strengthen digital engagement and ensure its support reaches more individuals in need.
