INSIDE PRIME HEALTH’S £2M PUSH TO TURN HARLEY STREET CENTRE INTO ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS HUB

£2M HARLEY STREET BET: PRIME HEALTH BACKS AI-POWERED MRI AS PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE BOOMS

Prime Health is investing £2 million in its Queen Anne Street centre, combining a new 3T MRI system with expanded health screening and preventative services as it seeks a larger share of the Harley Street Health District‘s £1.85 billion healthcare economy.

Prime Health is investing £2 million to transform its Central London diagnostics centre as the private healthcare provider expands beyond medical imaging into preventative screening and more personalised healthcare.

The company is redeveloping its centre at 45 Queen Anne Street in the Harley Street Health District, with the upgraded facility due to be formally unveiled on 24 September.

At the centre of the investment is a new Siemens Healthineers MAGNETOM Lumina 3T MRI system, supported by enhanced imaging software, AI-powered reconstruction and BioMatrix technology.

But the investment represents more than an equipment upgrade.

Prime Health is simultaneously expanding preventative healthcare and personalised health assessments, positioning the Queen Anne Street operation as a broader diagnostics and wellbeing destination for both self-pay and referred patients.

FROM DIAGNOSIS TO PREVENTION

The expanded service will combine medical assessments with diagnostic testing, supported by GPs, consultant specialists and other healthcare professionals.

That represents an increasingly significant direction for private healthcare: moving some of the emphasis from treating an existing condition towards identifying potential health problems earlier and giving patients a more comprehensive picture of their health.

Prime Health Chief Executive Steve Bird said the Queen Anne Street centre had become an important component of the company’s growth strategy.

“Our £2 million investment in Queen Anne Street reflects our commitment to developing high quality diagnostic and imaging services to create an exceptional experience for patients and referrers,” he said.

“The introduction of our new Siemens Healthineers MAGNETOM Lumina 3T MRI, alongside the transformation of the centre and expansion of our preventative health services, represents an exciting next chapter for Prime Health.”

Bird said the ambition was to establish Queen Anne Street as “a leading destination for advanced diagnostics along with a proactive approach to wellbeing”.

Located at 45 Queen Anne Street, in the heart of London's Harley Street Health District, the modernised centre will be officially unveiled on Thursday 24 September 2026 following an extensive refurbishment programme.

AI ENTERS THE IMAGING ROOM

The new MRI technology also illustrates how artificial intelligence is becoming embedded within medical diagnostics.

According to Siemens Healthineers, the MAGNETOM Lumina combines 3T MRI capabilities with technologies intended to improve examination speed, consistency and patient comfort.

Alistair Piggot, Business Area Lead for MR at Siemens Healthineers Great Britain and Ireland, said: “Its advanced imaging software, AI-powered reconstruction and BioMatrix technology will help Prime Health deliver efficient, high-quality examinations, supporting its ambition to provide more personalised care while equipping clinicians with the information they need to make confident decisions.”

The claims reflect the manufacturer’s description of the system’s capabilities rather than independent evidence supplied with the announcement.

PERSONAL SERVICE BECOMES PART OF THE PROPOSITION

Technology is only one element of the strategy.

Prime Health is seeking to combine sophisticated diagnostics with a more personalised patient journey, including connecting patients with appropriate clinical expertise where further investigation or treatment is required.

Vanessa Robinson, Centre Manager at Prime Health Queen Anne Street, said: “Our vision is to combine sophisticated diagnostics and preventative healthcare with an exceptionally personal level of service.”

“We want patients to feel that they have a team around them, helping them understand their health and where necessary, connecting them quickly with the right clinical expertise and next steps.”

The company is also developing relationships with consultants, GPs, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals across London to grow its referral network.

INVESTMENT WITHIN A £1.85BN HEALTH DISTRICT

The location adds a wider economic dimension to the investment.

According to the Harley Street Health District’s 2026 Impact Report, the district has an annual market value of £1.85 billion, representing approximately £143 million of growth over 12 months.

The report estimates that the district contributed £810 million to UK GDP in the latest year, with that contribution forecast to reach £911 million in the following year.

It is also home to more than 2,500 consultants, many working across both NHS and private healthcare.

That concentration of clinicians, hospitals, specialist providers and medical expertise gives Prime Health access to a substantial potential referral ecosystem as it expands Queen Anne Street.

Supported by enhanced imaging software, the new 3T MRI system will significantly strengthen Prime Health's imaging capabilities and support a wider range of diagnostic examinations and clinical pathways.

PRIME HEALTH TARGETS NEXT PHASE OF GROWTH

The transformed centre will serve both self-pay and referred patients, while Prime Health intends to continue developing relationships with healthcare professionals across the capital.

Bird said: “We are delighted that we can bring even more services to support our growing patient cohort and I am excited to see how this centre can continue to support even more patients.”

The £2 million investment therefore represents a wider strategic move: combining advanced imaging, preventative health assessments and a stronger referral network within one of London’s most concentrated private healthcare markets.

Prime Health will formally unveil the transformed centre at an invitation-only event on 24 September, bringing together clinicians, referrers and healthcare partners.

For the company, the investment is ultimately a bet that the next phase of private healthcare growth will not be driven by diagnostics alone, but by combining sophisticated technology with earlier intervention, screening and a more personalised approach to patient care.
