CALBARRIE ACQUISITION STRENGTHENS CELNOR’S POSITION IN UK SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE SECTOR

CELNOR EXPANDS COMPLIANCE PLATFORM WITH STRATEGIC ACQUISITION OF CALBARRIE
Celnor Group has strengthened its position in the UK’s rapidly consolidating Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) market with the acquisition of electrical safety specialist Calbarrie.
The deal marks Celnor’s entry into the electrical, fire and lighting compliance sector and further expands the capabilities of its growing Safety & Compliance division.
Founded in 1970, Calbarrie has established itself as one of the UK’s leading providers of electrical testing, safety and compliance services, working with organisations across facilities management, retail, education, healthcare, commercial property and infrastructure.
The acquisition adds significant scale and technical expertise to Celnor’s compliance offering at a time when regulatory requirements, building safety obligations and operational risk management remain high priorities for organisations across both the public and private sectors.
Expanding A Fast-Growing Compliance Platform
London-based Celnor has rapidly emerged as one of the most acquisitive businesses operating within the TICC sector.
Founded in 2023 by industry entrepreneur Simon Parrington and backed by Inflexion Private Equity, the business has grown from a start-up concept into an international organisation generating approximately £275 million in annual revenue.
Today, the group employs more than 2,300 people across 60 locations in six countries, delivering testing, inspection, compliance and advisory services to more than 20,000 clients.
The addition of Calbarrie provides Celnor with a significant foothold in the electrical compliance market, broadening its ability to support customers operating in highly regulated environments.
Supporting Regulatory Compliance
Calbarrie’s core services include fixed wire electrical inspections, commonly known as Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), alongside Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and wider electrical compliance programmes.
These services help organisations meet statutory obligations, insurance requirements and health and safety responsibilities while reducing operational risk across large property portfolios.
The company has developed long-standing customer relationships through its technical expertise, national coverage and focus on service quality.
For Celnor, the acquisition adds an established platform capable of supporting future expansion across the broader compliance landscape.
Simon Parrington, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Celnor, said: “Calbarrie is a highly respected and well-established business with an excellent reputation across the compliance sector.
“Their breadth of technical expertise, nationwide reach and strong customer relationships make them an outstanding addition to the Group and provide Celnor with an electrical safety platform of real scale and capability, representing a key strategic component within our broader Safety & Compliance TICC offering.
“We are delighted to welcome the Calbarrie team to Celnor and look forward to supporting the business as we support its next phase of growth.”
Shared Vision For Growth
For Calbarrie, the transaction provides access to additional resources, infrastructure and strategic support while maintaining continuity for employees and customers.
The business will continue operating within the group while benefiting from Celnor’s acquisition-led growth strategy and wider operational capabilities.
Tim Beardsmore, Managing Director of Calbarrie, said: “Joining Celnor represents an exciting opportunity for Calbarrie, our employees and our clients.
“We were looking for a partner that shared our long-term vision, values and commitment to service excellence and Celnor was the ideal fit.
“As part of the Group, we look forward to continuing to grow our services and capabilities while maintaining the high standards and trusted relationships we have built over many years.”
Consolidation Continues Across TICC Sector
The acquisition reflects wider consolidation trends across the TICC market as investors and industry operators seek to build integrated compliance platforms capable of serving increasingly complex customer requirements.
Demand for testing, inspection and compliance services continues to grow as organisations navigate stricter regulations, evolving safety standards and increasing environmental obligations.
With four specialist divisions spanning Built Environment, Safety & Compliance, Risk Management and Analytical Sciences, Celnor’s strategy remains focused on acquiring and scaling entrepreneur-led businesses that occupy strong niche positions within the compliance sector.
The addition of Calbarrie further strengthens that proposition and positions the group for continued expansion as demand for compliance services grows across the UK and international markets.
