INDUSTRY LEADER SUE DOUGHTY TAKES HELM OF APTIA’S UK PENSIONS ADMINISTRATION

Aptia has appointed Sue Doughty as Head of its UK Pensions Administration Business, signalling a renewed focus on client delivery and strategic growth in the competitive pensions administration market.

Doughty, who has served as the company’s Chief Client Officer since its launch, brings more than 35 years of experience in the pensions industry. Her career has spanned client relationship management, service delivery and complex project oversight across a broad range of pension arrangements, with leadership responsibilities extending across both UK and offshore teams.

Her elevation to lead the UK Pensions Administration Business comes at a time when pension scheme governance, regulatory scrutiny and member expectations are intensifying, placing greater emphasis on operational resilience and technology-enabled services.

Doughty was closely involved in the establishment of Aptia two years ago, helping to steer the transition and maintain continuity for clients. Drawing on longstanding industry relationships and strategic insight, she played a central role in shaping the organisation’s client engagement model from inception.

Since launch, she has doubled the size of the client management team and introduced a portfolio-based structure designed to sharpen accountability and enhance service consistency. The model aims to strengthen oversight across pension scheme administration while preserving a tailored approach for trustees and sponsoring employers.

In her expanded role, Doughty will continue to lead client delivery within the pensions administration arm of the business. She will oversee key relationships with clients and Independent Trustees, while also driving the strategic expansion of Aptia’s UK operations.

Sue Doughty said: “Aptia is a client-first organisation, and in my new role I will be focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients and members. A key part of this will be ensuring they continue to benefit from our commitment to investing in evolving technology to further strengthen the effectiveness and impact of the services we provide.

“I will keep listening, responding and ensuring we continue to deliver a truly twenty-first-century service.”

Malcolm Reynolds, Aptia’s UK President, framed the appointment as a natural progression for a senior executive who has already influenced the firm’s strategic direction.

“Sue has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of Aptia, championing client success and inspiring the next generation of industry professionals.

“Under her leadership, I am confident we will continue to strengthen our administration offering for existing clients and build on this strong foundation to support new clients as we grow.”

The move positions Aptia to deepen its presence in the UK pensions administration market, where demand for robust governance, digital capability and member-focused service models continues to grow. By placing a seasoned pensions specialist at the helm of its administration business, the firm is signalling both continuity and ambition in a sector undergoing structural and technological change.
