NEW STUDY REVEALS 40% OF BRITS NOW USE AI IN BOTH WORK AND PERSONAL LIFE

Adobe Express has launched The AI Guide to explore how people across the UK are embracing artificial intelligence in their daily lives, revealing a surge in adoption for both personal and professional use.
Surveying more than 1,000 UK adults, the guide highlights how AI is becoming integral to everyday life – from recipe generation and fitness tracking to workplace content creation and project management.
The findings show that 40% of respondents now use AI in both personal and professional settings, while 72% report a boost in productivity and 51% say they are saving money. A further 25% use AI exclusively at home, while 15% rely on it solely for work.
AI at Home: Everyday Creativity and Life Admin
At home, people are turning to AI for information research (65%), personal organisation and fitness tracking (41%), communication (29%), and entertainment (28%). In Southampton, Sheffield and Liverpool, residents are using AI for creative writing, health monitoring and online learning. Glasgow households are saving the most money, while Southampton leads the way in time saved.
AI at Work: Efficiency and Innovation
AI is also transforming workflows in the workplace. The most common uses include design and content creation (70%), research and information gathering (56%), data analysis (46%), project management (40%), communication (22%), and software development (18%).
Sector breakdowns reveal varied adoption:
-
60% of marketing, advertising and PR professionals use AI for creativity both at home and at work.
-
75% of business and management professionals use it for data analysis.
-
100% of legal professionals surveyed use AI for content creation and communication.
-
In IT, 73% use AI for information sourcing and 47% for software development.
-
In hospitality and events, as well as environment and agriculture, 50% of professionals report saving over 10 hours a week.
Yet challenges remain. Lack of training means 100% of respondents in science and pharmaceuticals avoid AI entirely, while privacy concerns affect up to 31% of all users. Subscription costs, reliance fears and trust issues also remain barriers to wider adoption.
Addressing Barriers
Adobe Express said the guide was designed not only to showcase benefits but to help address concerns and make AI more accessible. The platform offers a range of intuitive, AI-powered creative tools, including design templates, image generators and video creators, enabling users to experiment without technical expertise.
The guide also offers tips for using AI effectively – from inspiring creativity and streamlining workflows, to checking information sources and seeking out free tools and trials.
As AI becomes more deeply embedded in both work and personal life, Adobe Express aims to empower more people to use technology confidently and creatively, helping them save time, reduce costs and unlock new opportunities.
