LONDON SPORT AWARDS 2025 TO SHINE THE SPOTLIGHT ON BUSINESSES   HELPING IMPROVE LIVES THROUGH SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The London Sport Awards return for its ninth edition in 2025 to celebrate the inspiring stories of those improving the lives of Londoners through grassroots sport and physical activity.

Nominations now open for Business Contribution category, in association with the City of London Corporation

It’s time to shine the spotlight on London’s business heroes who have made significant and invaluable contributions to the grassroots sport and physical activity sector as nominations are now open for the London Sport Awards 2025.

London Sport is a charity helping all Londoners live longer, healthier, and happier lives through being active, with a focus on children and adults in the most deprived communities who face the greatest challenges of inequality. London Sport’s annual Awards celebrate the inspiring stories of those improving the lives of Londoners through sport and physical activity.

There are ten categories open for nominations before 24 November 2024, including the Volunteer of the Year, the newly established Active Design Award, and the Business Contribution Award, in association with the City of London Corporation.

The Business Contribution Award recognises the contribution of businesses, large and small, who have used bold and innovative approaches to make a tangible difference in local communities using the power of sport and physical activity – whether that be through practical support, advice, mentorship, collaboration and/or investment. The Business Contribution Award also celebrates the individual business role models who inspire and motivate others to support community physical activity and sport initiatives.

Last year’s winner of the Business Contribution Award was Nike’s Jordan brand, recognising its long-term support for the Black Prince Trust – which offers sport and physical activity programmes in London – to create and maintain an iconic community facility, deliver programmes and provide quality training and development opportunities. It has also fully funded courses for coach and officials training.

Jordan’s Purpose & Social Community Impact EMEA Team said: “Jordan Brand is proud to have won the Business Contribution Award at the London Sport Awards 2024, highlighting our commitment to community impact. Our partnerships with community basketball partners like the Black Prince Trust, Brixton Topcats and Hoopsfix in London have powered basketball community programs, trained coaches, and ignited transformative community events, to make sport accessible for all. The recent upgrades at the Black Prince Trust Hub are just one example of our dedication to developing spaces that nurture growth and Greatness. With initiatives like Future Forward, celebrating Black History Month, we’re cultivating positive role models and promoting inclusivity on and off the court. This award is a testament to our mission of elevating communities through the power of sport and mentorship.”

Other previous winners include UBS (2023, 2020) for their work to tackle poverty-related issues for children and young people; and Tideway (2021) for their work with London Youth Rowing.

Supported by the City of London Corporation, the 2025 London Sport Awards will once again be hosted at the spectacular Guildhall on 27 March 2025.

Tanya Rabin, London Sport’s Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications, said: “The London Sport Awards shine a spotlight on the incredible work done by individuals and organisations across the city to help Londoners lead happier, healthier and more active lives.

We’ve seen some great examples over the years of how really meaningful commercial partnerships can make a transformational difference in changing lives. This support from the business community continues to be incredibly important in helping tackle some big societal challenges – not least the increasing health inequalities across the capital. We are looking forward to unearthing and celebrating the unsung heroes of the business world who are making a tangible impact in local communities through the power of sport and physical activity.”

Chris Hayward, City of London Corporation Policy Chairman, said: “We are delighted to once again be hosting the 2025 London Sport Awards at Guildhall and helping recognise the massive contribution of the capital’s business community in supporting children and adults to enjoy the benefits of taking part in sport.

Sport is not only important to community physical and mental health. It is also central to our economic success and global soft power.

Supporting community and grassroots events is an important element of our new Sport Strategy. By hosting events such as the London Sport Awards and through the services we provide in the Square Mile, on our open spaces and at our educational institutions, we will continue to take forward this important organisational priority.”
