LONDON HQ AIMS TO RAISE £70,000 – CELEBRATORY PLATINUM JUBILEE CORGIS UP FOR AUCTION

• Auction of 17 corgi statues, each one named after the Queen’s own dogs, hopes to raise more than £70,000 for front line charities
• Charitable causes include homelessness and food banks as cost-of-living crisis takes grip of the capital

London Heritage Quarter has announced that a collection of corgi statues installed as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations will be up for auction this month, with all proceeds going to several charities to fund frontline causes and support those affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

The 17 statues, some of which are up to 2 metres in length and all of them hand designed by local contemporary artists, were a popular hit over the summer. With each one named after the Queen’s own corgis and forming a corgi trail though the heart of the city, the attraction has been a hit with both locals and tourists, with thousands of visitors flocking to the capital to take selfies and embark on the trail.

However, as the nation gets to grips with a cost-of-living crisis, London HQ has put the statues up for a charity auction as it aims to raise £70,000. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to several charities that tackle frontline causes including Social Bite, The Cardinal Hume Centre, The Passage, Only A Pavement Away, The Big Issue Foundation and Railway Children amongst others.

Although their absence and the vibrancy they had will be noticeable, it is great to know that all the funds from this auction will be going to great causes.”
