As Head of the Psychoactive Medicines Law & Regulatory team at Mackrell.Solicitors, which has offices in Birmingham and London, Elliott will consider the current UK licensing regime and legal risks involved in developing psychedelic treatments and providing therapies, using these enigmatic compounds.

Ricardo Geada, Head of the Cannabis & Regulatory Team of Mackrell.Solicitors’ influential Cannabis Law team, will also host a presentation on Navigating the Novel Foods Applications.

His insightful presentation will cover the current state of the Novel Foods regime, the proposals for CBD in the UK post-Brexit and the steps businesses may need to take in light of these regulatory changes.

Finally, the firm will host a panel debate alongside members of the global legal network that it helped to found, Mackrell International.

Entitled CBD & Hemp – International Laws and Domestic Regulatory Quirks, this will be chaired by Ricardo and will bring together lawyers from the USA, Germany and Switzerland, who are leading experts in Cannabis Law. The panel will discuss the legal nuances between jurisdictions when it comes to CBD products generally and how these affect the industry.

Speaking about the firm’s upcoming participation in the summit, Ricardo said: “The European cannabis industry is growing quickly, but it faces a number of unique challenges, many of which are borne out of complex regulatory matters but also misconceptions of the legal requirements regarding cannabis generally and more specifically, the cannabinoid levels that are permitted.

“To help those within this exciting sector plans for the future, we will be offering useful insights into the latest rule changes and the potential opportunities that lay just on the horizon.”
